You Vs Life Pattern

My mom simply wants me to fall in line with the belief system followed  by the majority, so as to avoid being on the receiving  end of  any “controversial” comments from the “near and dear”.  But whats the best way of telling her that I don’t want to be a sheep, without  having to receive the “I gave birth to you” reminder!!

The beauty of differences  is often underrated. Diversity is what makes this world an interesting place to be but it is seldom welcomed with an open mind. “Different” is often mistaken for “untrustworthy”. No matter how many betrayal stories of “similar”  are retold and relived, a promiscuous “similar” still seems to be a desirable choice over a promising “Different” .  So,  is it a wise choice to be miserable with yourself so that you can  be at peace with the world around you! An oversimplified example would be, picking friends based on their origin state or caste.

Centuries of "passed-on-belief" system is probably tangled with the genetic structure of every blood line so much so that, the newly learned scientific and logical reasoning also has to give up a fight or two every  now and then. Venturing into new waters takes some curiosity and a little courage but uncertainty seems to be more disturbing than the already disturbed state of things.

Several conjectures are so firmly implanted in human mind,  just because they have been passed on from generation to generation through mere word of mouth, that a need for empirical proof is conveniently forgotten, before forming new theories based upon them.

The mind is only as good as its master. If it is trained to fall in line with the most favoured and practised theories, you probably are on the safe side but you are just a sheep waiting in line for your turn. When all you have is just one opportunity, would you rather venture out on the path you believe in or wait and watch where the rest of the world is going!! The new and different path could bring interesting people and experiences, which inturn could make you the master in true sense.
